Devtober Postmortem


Hello!

This is a project I've been working on for the past few months. Recently I've had less time to work on it because College was starting up and it's been busy to say the least. 

I was planning on waiting until the winter break hit until I started up on this project again, but since this game jam came around and I decided to work and put out a tiny demo that includes everything up until the first boss and upgrade.

Before October the game had it's basic elements there, so the main thing I worked on this month was level design and aesthetics, conveniently the things that I'm not very good at! It was mostly just trial and error (with pixel art ofc) until I made something semi-acceptable. Though I learned a lot about pixel art!

Some things I couldn't polish as much as I would have liked:

- Menu UI Design

-Sound Design

-(Good) Level Design

I couldn't finish all these before the deadline, so they will be lacking in the demo. But hey, if not for the deadline I don't think I could release something in months.

If I learned anything is that a hard deadline (even an insignificant one) really helps motivate me to see a project through!
